International Day of Forests

There are endless reasons to keep forests standing. They inspire awe, provide sustenance, shelter and solace. And they help to mitigate climate change—a task that is only becoming more urgent with each passing year. But forests are disappearing before our very eyes, largely the result of illegal logging, over-harvesting and agricultural conversion.

The Rainforest Alliance is working with our partners around the globe to give people who depend on the land for their livelihoods an economic incentive to keep their forests standing. In honor of International Day of Forests, we are highlighting some of our work to introduce sustainable farming, forestry and tourism to forest-dependent communities around the globe.
